Over my years in practice I have worked with a lot of people that have anxiety. Recently while I was preparing my workshop, Yoga and the Chakras, I read about the 1st chakra (issues of safety and security). The author mentioned the concept of “having the right to be here”. It struck a chord with me and as I worked with my clients over the next few weeks that have anxiety as an issue I asked them if they felt like they had the right to be here. They felt a strong connection with the idea. Maybe not every one that has anxiety has this issue but I think a lot of them do. It would be hard to live life from a place of safety and security if you don’t believe that you have the right to be here and take up space. Installing positve beliefs and changing old beliefs are both helpful with this. Also, clearing out old memories that fed into the old belief is helpful. Using any of the relaxation recordings can also be helpful in reducing anxiety because it helps to connect the neural pathways to the relaxed pathways instead of the traumatic or neutral pathways. Listen, relax, and enjoy life to it’s fullest.
